Bungie day, Art contests and the one year challenge!

First and foremost, happy Bungie Day!

Yesterday evening, Bungie released an extensive forum post to the community. Filled with thank yous from the developer and a 30 minute video of first year experiences (below), there were two major pieces of this post that stuck out: an art contest and a challenge deemed “The Moments of Triumph.”

The “Destiny One Year Art Contest” is a way for the players over the past year to display and show-off what they believe to be their best moments and memories of their first year in the galaxy. As of now, all that is known is the submission date, July 23, 2015, and the rules below.

“The parade will be judged, in part, by the community itself. For our part, we’ll be rolling out a new space on Bungie.net to better highlight these and future creations by the talented people in our community.”

“For now, keep your entry under wraps until we issue the official call to action. Make an epic video, take a compelling picture, or sketch your vision of the Guardians that have settled into the Tower. You’ll need your own external URL (something like YouTube or imgur) to host your creation. Please make sure that your content is family friendly. Destiny is rated T for Teen!”

The top 50 winners will win a special Blacksmith Shader for their Guardian and the top 7 will win the Collector’s Edition of Destiny: The Taken King.

For the one year challenge, players have been given the opportunity to gain a once in a lifetime banner (shown above). If you don’t obtain it now, you will never get the chance again. In order to complete “The Moments of Triumph”, there are ten challenges that must be met before September 9th:

  • Apprentice of Light — Reach level 20
  • Light of the Garden — Finish the Black Garden mission
  • Light in the Soul  — Finish The Dark Below story
  • Light of the Reef — Finish the House of Wolves story
  • Bane of Skolas — Defeat Prison of Elders on hard
  • Bane of Atheon — Finish the Vault of Glass raid on hard
  • Bane of Crota — Finish the Crota’s End raid on hard
  • Public Servant — Complete 50 public events
  • Crucible Gladiator — Win 100 Crucible matches
  • Chest Hunter — Find all 20 golden chests

You can track your progress via Bungie.net. If you have already completed the challenge, you have already been marked to receive your emblem, which can be expected September 15th, the release of “The Taken King” DLC.
