Capcom Asks Community What They Think of a Resident Evil 2 Remake

Capcom seem to be interested in doing a remake of the PS1 survival horror classic, Resident Evil 2. But is confusion regarding public demand holding them back? A recent, though somewhat puzzling, Facebook post from the developer has R&D Division 1 asking for “your honest and frank opinion about the ‘Resident Evil 2 Remake’ and what the brand identity is supposed to be about?”

The wording is a bit strange, though it appears Capcom is looking to make amends for the critical disappointments that were the past few Resident Evil releases by calling out to their fans and asking what they want from this planned remake. Yet, given the fact that the recent re-release of the Resident Evil remake on PS4 and Xbox One sold over a million downloads, that’s where their inspiration should be found. A faithful product in terms of gameplay and setting design, but with updated graphics and voice acting for the latest generation, is likely what the community wants from a RE2 remake.

Regardless, it’s promising to note Capcom’s calling out to the public to ensure a worthwhile game that will both please fans — both new and old — and sell well. If they implement the same ideas that made the first REmake such a success, then the RE2 remake will surely be another hit.
