Fallout 4 Character Progression Detailed at QuakeCon

QuakeCon is a yearly convention held in Dallas, Texas where Bethesda and iD show off their most anticipated upcoming games. No game is more awaited than Fallout 4, and Bethesda was cordial enough to reveal some new details on character progression and companions during their presentation. Here is a list of the new information:

  • ¬†Fallout 4 has 70 unique perks. In comparison, Fallout 3 has 58.¬†Additionally, many of the perks in Fallout 4 can be upgraded, making for 275 different perk options
  • Which perks are available to you is dependent on what level your strength, perception, endurance, charisma, intelligence, agility, or luck is
  • Many animations are created using motion capture in an attempt to make movements look more natural than in past Bethesda games
  • There are 12 different companions available throughout the game. They can be romanced, regardless of gender
  • You can travel with one companion at a time
  • There are perks made for those who want to play the game without a companion
  • 4 of the companions are known so far: Dogmeat, as shown in the E3 presentation; Codsworth, your loyal robot butler; Preston Garvey, the leader of the Commonwealth Minutemen; and Piper, a charismatic woman who lives in Diamond City (the ruins of Fenway Park)
  • You can visit the towns of Lexington and Quincy
  • A full weather system will change over time and will feature radiation storms
  • Bethesda has recorded their voice actors saying a list of over 1,000 names in an attempt to have whichever name the player chose spoken in the game’s dialogue. You can even name your character F***face and have non-playable characters call you by the name
  • The Bloody Mess perk is back
  • Lock-picking and hacking are back. They look similar to how they did in Fallout 3
  • The Brotherhood of Steel is in the game

Fallout 4 released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 10th.
