Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 Gameplay Trailer Released

Today, Activision released a gameplay trailer for the upcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, which is set to be released on September 29th of this year for PS4 and Xbox One – last-gen versions are planned to release shortly after. The fifth entry in the series is the first in a long while and is described by the developers as a reboot to the days of small levels and collectibles. Unfortunately, the gameplay video is void of surprises. It shows skateboarding, and lists features such as creating your own character, playing as a real-life pro, making your dream skate park, and playing online.

Admittedly, graphics don’t translate to fun. However, for a PS4 and Xbox One game, this video does little to impress and animations look rough. With little actual gameplay shown, it’s difficult to say if playing the game will make up for the lack of stellar visuals. On the other hand, at least Activision got rid of the terrible skateboard peripheral from Tony Hawk Shred and Tony Hawk Ride. Hopefully the developers of the game can tap into the elements that made the old games so addictive while putting a new twist on the skateboard video game genre.
