Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Will Initially Include All Gears Games

Microsoft released information today about  a deal that will see those who pick up Gears of War: Ultimate Edition also receive the entire Gears of War collection. In other words, those who buy the remastered Xbox One version of Gears of War between August 25 and December 31, 2015, will be able to download and play the Xbox 360 versions of Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3, and Gears of War: Judgment using  recently announced Xbox One Backwards Compatibility.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is a remastered version of the first entry in the Gears series. It features updated audio and graphics, new campaign content that was before only available on PC, new multi-player modes, new achievements, and much more. It will release August 25 on Xbox One.

The promotional deal gives players the rest of the Gears games for free, but these won’t be remastered versions. They will be the Xbox 360 versions of the game, playable on Xbox One via the new backwards compatibility feature.
