Mafia 3 – Trailer

Developer Hanger 13  and publisher 2K released the debut trailer for Mafia 3 this morning.

Mafia 3 departs from the typical Italian mafia in Empire City for a fictitious version of the Louisiana Bayou in 1968, approximately 20 years after the events of Mafia 2. While family remains a prime factor in this iteration, it won’t be the same family we saw in the second. Instead, we will see Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam veteran, arriving home to find the Italian mob double-crossing his own family. A bad move on their part, it seems.

A huge twist however, is Vito Scaletta–the player character from the second game–is now a part of Lincoln’s crew, after serving jail time. Interesting to see how that will play out.

So, the tables are turned in this iteration. Instead of playing a part of the Italian family, we are now against it.

GameInformer was able to get a hands-on demo of Mafia 3 and they detailed their adventure as our newest anti-hero. I won’t spoil their spoils, so go read their piece.

PlayStation Access discussed the reveal trailer at length:

No release date has been set as of yet; we only know it will debut in the next year.
