Patrick Kane Pulled From NHL 16 Cover

Due to recent allegations regarding sexual assault, EA Sports has decided to pull the Blackhawks player from the cover of NHL 16. The cover will instead feature teammate Jonathan Toews alone and the set release date has not been rescheduled. EA Sports released an official statement on Twitter, stating that Kane will “no longer be a spokesperson for the launch” of the game, nor will he take part in other “promotional activities.”

The company seems intent on alleviating any pressures regarding controversy with this decision to remove Kane. Whether this will affect game sales is currently up in the air. But fans will be glad to know they’ll still be able to get their hands on the game September 15 for PS4 and Xbox One.
