Paradox Development Studios announced today at Gamescom that it is moving away from the erstwhile-facing themes of their Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis series and reaching for the stars. Stellaris promises emergent gameplay on a grand scale, in much the same way as the developer’s previous titles. As Gamespot reports, the game will feature procedurally generated planets and solar systems with many different factions and races to interact with. The gameplay will be familiar to fans of large-scale strategy games; including empire building, military pursuits, and a ship builder. Stellaris was announced for PC, Mac, and Linux with no date announced.
