Hitman Will Release for Two Different Prices Next March
When the new Hitman game releases next spring, you will have a choice between two different content packages. Due to IO Interactive’s plan to release the game in stages, there will be one option that includes all the content that will ever come out for the game for $59.99, and there will be a second option that offers only the initial content for $34.99.
Hitman is scheduled to be released on March 11th, 2016 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. On that day, the game will have three sandbox locations (Paris, Sapienza, and Marrakesh) and six campaign missions. It will also include Contracts mode, which allows users to create challenges that other players can then attempt online.
Over the next three months, IO Interactive will be releasing three more sandbox locations, as well as more signature kill moves and elements for Contracts mode. There is one sandbox location being released per month: Thailand in April, the USA in May, and Japan in June.
If you buy the $59.99 package, then you will receive all the initial content, and all the planned additions that will come over the next three months. On the other hand, the $34.99 package includes only the initial offering of content. However, at any point, you can pay $29.99 to unlock the post-launch content.
In short, IO Interactive is allowing people to try out the initial content before investing in all the future offerings. It might be a slightly convoluted way of saying “Season Pass”, but it’s still an interesting way to potentially get more people playing your game on its release day.
