Super Mario Maker set to get a patch next week

On November 4 Nintendo will patch Super Mario Maker with 5 updates that will include checkpoints and a new, more challenging version of Gnat Attack just to list two of the five. The other three updates that will be included in this patch will be the ability to attach power-ups to each other, thus giving Mario the respective power-up depending on his state. For example, you can attach a super mushroom and a fire flower in one question mark block and if Mario hits the block when he is small he will be given the super mushroom, but if he hits it when he is big he will get the fire flower. Moreover, the patch will also include two new course modes, one of these modes is called the “Event Courses” hub which according to Nintendo:

“will feature levels from partner creators outside Nintendo. One of the first Event Courses will be “Ship Love,” the winning level from the “hackathon” event that was held at Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park earlier this year. Facebook is the first outside partner in the United States to design a level for Super Mario Maker; employees had the opportunity to design and present their creations to a panel of judges before the winning level was selected.”

The second course mode to be introduced into Mario Maker with this patch will be called “Official Makers” where players will be able to play special courses created and circulated by Nintendo designers. On the whole, this patch will add even more to an already gigantic plate of course customization that players have at their disposal. Check out the video below to see a rundown of the updates.

I live in Southern California and I am a college graduate who enjoys playing video games both new and old. However, I am a very selective gamer and I tend to play games from my favorite genres most of the time, but I am still open to anything that peaks my interest. What games I can review or provide editorials for is mostly dependent on whether I can afford a certain game and if I have an opinion about the game that I wish to express. Anyway, I intend to contribute general gaming news and reviews to Cynosure Gaming as much as possible in order to inform, entertain, and unify gamers of all kinds.
